Maintenance Technician at DCM

I have known the De Ceuster family for many years. As a child, I lived in the same street and sometimes went to Herman De Ceuster's house to mow the lawn. One day, I decided to send an unsolicited application to his company. I had a degree in electromechanics and after having gained some technical experience, I was looking forward to a bigger challenge, so I took my chance. The timing turned out to be perfect, because a job for a maintenance technician had just become available at DCM at that that time.

"I work in a team, where we try to approach technical problems from a different angle. This allows us to share our knowledge, which benefits all of us".

I have been working for DCM for 9 years now. In the beginning there were just two of us, but thanks to the company’s growth over the years, our team has expanded and now consists of five people. As a maintenance technician, I take care of various maintenance and repair jobs at DCM and its sister company, Belcofeed. This includes all kinds of small tasks, such as replacing a lamp or installing a desk, but also more complex problems, such as repairing a broken down forklift truck or a sudden interruption in the production process. Because of the variety of problems and techniques, I am actually a construction worker as well as an electrician, a plumber and a mechanic, which makes my work interesting and fascinating.

I like being able to decide on my own work schedule; that gives a certain amount of autonomy. I also work in a fantastic team, where we try to approach technical problems from a different angle. This allows us to share our knowledge, which benefits all of us. I also appreciate the sincere and direct way of communicating with my colleagues and superiors. In this way, problems can be solved quickly and efficiently, which makes things easier.
