Truck driver at DC Transport
My parents were horticulturists and when I was a child, Herman De Ceuster came to us to disinfect the soils. The work was always done perfectly, and I remember how much I admired Herman at the time. As a young boy, I had the ambition to become a truck driver, but my parents encouraged me to learn a trade. I graduated as a furniture maker, but when I turned out to be allergic to tropical woods, I had a good excuse to make my dream come true. Shortly after getting my driver’s licence, I went to Herman De Ceuster to apply for a job as a truck driver.
"I'm proud of this company and the good, well-maintained equipment we have".
I started working for DCG in 1991 and since 2000 I have been working for DCM. Today I drive all over Belgium and every now and then you will find me in the Netherlands and in France. Our aim is to help our customers as best as possible. Every customer has different expectations when it comes to loading and unloading. We take this into account. This is a service that we offer to our customers and they appreciate it.
In my job as a truck driver, I have a lot of autonomy, but what I like most is the contact with the customers. After all these years, I know the customers very well and we have a close relationship. I'm proud of this company and the good, well-maintained equipment we have. If there are any problems, they are solved quickly and if new rolling stock needs to be purchased, we are involved in the decision making. Over the years, I have learned a lot about maintaining and repairing the equipment. For all these reasons, this job continues to fascinate me day after day.
